Today was the first time I went into the Quanta Hall (廣藝廳).
Professors from MIT had a keynote presentation there.
By the way, this MIT is the real MIT in US, not someone or something made in Taiwan.
They're here to present what did they actually do in last few years.
Why should they do that? Because their researches are funded by my company.

Since they are MIT professors, of course they speak English.
That's why I gave the title "English Class".
It's a good way to do the listening lesson!
Unlike us pretending speaking English, that is their daily use languages.
So it is a good time to learn from them.

The topics are about the future technologies.
How do we see the world today? Tomorrow? Or the days after tomorrow.
Everyone is guessing: what is the next killer product?
Prof. Chris Terman showed a slide, which has 3 sentences on it.
Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future. by Niels Bohr.
The best way to predict the future is to invent it. by Alan Kay

Only 2 above... what is the missing one?
That missing one is the first sentence on that slide!
What comes after laptops? by Barry Lam.
That is why we fund MIT researches...
Any products come to the world?
I have no idea...

Another professor Victor Zue gave another slide that showed a trend that an idea to a product.
First they come from the university researches.
Then they go to the industry researches and become product prototypes.
Finally a new $10 million markets...
How long it gonna takes? Long long time...
Apple spent 3 years to make the first iPhone.
Before that they first introduce iPod at 2001...
So how long it will be? No one can tell.
(Maybe Steve Jobs can! I mean those Apple products...)

Suddenly got an instruction!
Tomorrow we will have a demo for Barry.
Yeah, the one who was be mentioned before!
